Golden box ? MysterySubmitted by: Carrie |
|
PLEASE HELPHello! I found this Box at an antique store while I was on vacation in Hot Springs Arkansas. On the bottom it says "rehearsal of ballet on the stage Degas (1834-1917). Only problem is that it's missing the top. I'm curious what it was used for and about how much if anything , it's worth. Thanks in advance for your help! Hi Carrie, Your Mystery Golden Box looks to be what is left from a Music Box: `Rehearsal of Ballet on the Stage` Degas ( 1834-1917) Song `Moonlight Sonata`. Top of box is a picture of a ballet. One sold for $35 in 2007 but it was in great shape with no missing parts. I don't know what you paid for it but you probably paid too much. Sorry I couldn't give you better news. Thanks, |

PLEASE HELPThe few items that are similar to mine all state they are depression glass. The enamel background id black with heavily painted floral design around lip. The base also has a floral painted design(different from rim)directly to the glass. Gold pin-striping is on the edge of lip, base, lower portion of bowl and top of stem. The stem has a bit of a raised line on either side; as if it was made from a mold. Hope someone can help me in identifying this glassware. Thanks Submit your estimate of worth |

Vintage Beige Couch/Hide a BedSubmitted by: Ray |
|
PLEASE HELPThis couch was my great grandparents. My dad actually slept on it when he was a kid. It's at least from the 40's. The mattress is still comfy for a hide a bed and pulls out easy. The platform for the mattress says Mastercraft of Omaha if that helps. Everything is original and there isn't any major stains or anything on it. Its one drawback is that it's really heavy. I now have it at college but because of its size and weight am trying to get rid of it. I have no clue how much it's worth, if it's worth anything. I just don't want to give it away if it is worth something. Submit your estimate of worth |

Hi Ray, Your Vintage Beige Couch/Hide a Bed is estimated between $10 to $100. It would sell as more of a need to someone instead of a antique. I couldn't tell the size (twin or full) the full size does sell for more but like I said it is more of a necessity purchase from what I have seen. Thanks, |

Here is some examples of one that have sold recently. http://www.antiquesnavigator.com/index.php?s=Persian+Dagger&c=&submit=Submit&main_page=documents&content=search Most run in the $75 range but yours has a certain elegance and I believe you can get $175 or more. It is a nice dagger. Thanks, |
Tongzhi Ginger Jar (?)Submitted by: |

PLEASE HELPI have what I believe is a Qing Dynasty Tongzhi ginger jar; I have been only able to find a few like it and a few translations of the markings on the bottom which leads me to believe it is older (1862-1874?)than I thought it was. Hi, I really don't know how old the jar is but I would estimate the value between $30 to $100. Most that I have seen sold range in the $30 to $50. Hi Debra, Individual pez range in price from $1 a piece to around $20 dollar each. There are numerous \\\"footless\\\" pez that demand higher prices, but from your picture, I don't believe you have any in your collection. That would give your collection a value between $170-1000 dollars. You would be better off selling each PEZ dispenser individually to get the maximum amount from each one, but the task of selling 170 PEZ dispensers individually would be pretty daunting. Selling the collection as a whole, I would estimate you could get around $100-300 dollars, again I would need to see the list of each one to see if their are any really old and valuable pez in your collection. |

WILLIAM B. KERR & CO. FIGURAL SNAKE MATCH SAFE VESTA STERLINGSubmitted by: Andrew |
|
PLEASE HELPI have this sterling silver snake match safe - I don't know much about it - but I found one on this website selling for around $1000. Is this an accurate appraisal? And is this a good avenue to sell it? Great condition except for small crack and ding (see photos). Thanks so much! Submit your estimate of worth |
|
Estimated Value submitted by Tim |
|
Hi Andrew, Yes, if you found the same match case that sold for $1000 dollars on this website, it would be a good gauge on the value of your match safe. However, condition is very important and finding the right buyer would also be required. The small crack and ding would negatively affect the value and collectors always want pristine condition on their antiques, especially when spending that much money! I would estimate the value of figural match safe at around $500-1000 dollars. |

1971 Blazon CAROUSEL horse on brass/marble base.Submitted by: |
|
PLEASE HELPDark bay with black mane and tail, Blazon 71 stamped on belly. I cannot find a single little piece of information about carousel Blazon horses, only Blazon rocking horses. The base is brass and marble, clawfeet, very intricate details. 4' tall and about 4' long. realistic muscles, heavy duty plastic. The base appears to have either been a lamp or was made so could be a lamp, I'm guessing, but there's a hole for the cord. Please, Please, Please help me determine value! I'm at my wits end with this one but similar sized wood horses go for around 1k. I can't find any information, I'm begging for help, Please!!! Thank you! *** new discoveries! It was originally a rocking horse!!! It was custom made for my mother in law many years ago. So how do I determine value of something like this? I know that the base has a value of $200-$250 and Blazon rocking horses are around $300. Apparently she had 3 made and nobody in the family knows what happened to the other two. So it's rare, custom made, only a few made. Value??? :-) thank you! Submit your estimate of worth |

Hi Jennifer, You might want to contact someone who specializes in carousel horses, like the folks at: They have a bunch of carousel horses for sale and they range in value from $1,700 to $50,000 dollars! That's a big range and I think your horse would be valued on the lower end, but they're are the experts! |

Imperial Tea CartSubmitted by: Wayne |
|
PLEASE HELPHello. I bought a Imperial Tea Cart last night at an auction. The tea cart is a two tiered, drop leaf design. The leafs are scalloped and so is the single drawer. Inside the drawer is the logo and it is a green shield with a crown over it. It is the only decal inside the drawer. On the bottom of the cart is a stenciled number that reads; #63. Unlike many other Imperial carts that I've seen online, this one has wooden front wheels with wooden castors (pivots). The back wheels are large, spoked, wooden wheels. The glass serving tray that fits on top of the cart is wooden framed and the glass is wavy. The cart is 27 inches high. The glass serving tray measures 28 1/4 inches long by 18 1/4 inches wide. The pictures will show the minor flaws on the table top and wheel hubs. I'd like to know how old it is and what it's worth please. Thank you for any information you can give me! THE MILKMAID BY NICHOLAES MAESSubmitted by: Lorraine |
|
PLEASE HELPI CAME ACROSS THIS PAINTING THAT APPEARS TO BE OLD BECAUSE OF THE CRACKLED VARNISHED TEXTURE. I BELIEVE IT IS AN OIL PAINTING ON A BOARD SUPPORT IN A REDDISH COLORED WOOD FRAME. IT HAS A NAME TAG WITH THE ARTIST'S NAME ON THE FRONT. THE DIMENSIONS OF THE PICTURE ONLY ARE 22CM WIDE BY 19CM HIGH. I WOULD LIKE TO FIND OUT IF THIS COULD BE AN ORIGINAL NICHOLAES MAES «THE MILKMAID» ART PIECE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP. Submit your estimate of worth |
|
Estimated Value submitted by William |
|
If your painting is an original Nicolaes Maes painting, it belongs in a museum and is priceless. You need to have the painting authenticated, but since Nicolaes Maes was a pupil of Rembrandt and any painting on him would be very valuable. An internet appraisal is probably not the best place to get your painting authenticated and valued. Good luck and thanks for sharing. |

Hi Stephanie,

Hi Dianne, Your 1934 World Fair pencil holders are worth between $25-85 dollars a piece. They normally have square tags, so that's unusual and as you said the white one is missing its tag. PLEASE HELPI am in the posession of a pair of what I believe to be gold-tone White House cufflinks. The White House is central with 14 stars above and 5 stars below the image. The main part is constructed like a two piece button pressed together, hollow inside. there is a clip which attaches the button with an relatively long, thin, oblong portion which would be inserted throu the cuff, and its shape would hold it in place. I would assume the date is 1952 or before. ( I say this because I also have an gold-tone elephant pin with '52 on it, no other info on this item either) Thankyou Submit your estimate of worth |

PLEASE HELPI was given this picture by my friend when his mom passed away. His mom was an artist specializing in leatherwork She travelled around the world and found many treasures and artifacts that were unique one of a kinds. This picture was one of them. I am not sure where she got it. She went to Arizona, Africa, South America, Europe etc. There is what appears to be a family crest painted on the birds wings. The parallel lines are carved very precisely. I believe they are symbolic of water. I think the birds are Herons The colors of the Crests painted on the wings are scarlet blue gold. I wonder what material isthat it is carved on as it seems like wood (the carved side but on the back it appears to be corrugated with little squares perhaps imprinted into it by whatever held it flat and steady while worked upon.It is a little thicker than a 1/4 inch. The overall dimensions are 12"x 18" What is this type of art piece called? Where may it be from. I imagine it's value is as high as the demand for something like this.lol Thank-you Submit your estimate of worth |
